Updated program materials and Policy Report
As a Regional Center for Health Innovation, Community Health Works conducts health services planning that impacts the ways in which communities receive care. CHW is proud to announce a new initiative that will bring industry leaders together to address regional health and healthcare issues. The Central Georgia Regional Health Summit will bring the top minds in healthcare administration, government, finance, business, public health, and education to communities across the central Georgia region for informational meetings and public discussions. The Summit will serve as an ongoing, community-responsive dialogue around the health issues that matter most to local communities and healthcare systems alike. Through an annual Regional Health Summit and quarterly public meetings in each of the seven counties comprising CHW’s core service region, Community Health Works will facilitate an inspiring discourse that promises to illuminate the issues at hand. Over the next three years, CHW will work with organizational partners and local communities to develop, institute and promote the best ideas arising from the Summit meetings, innovations that we believe will improve the health and well-being of central Georgia residents.
The Central Georgia Regional Health Summit was kicked off on October 7, 2009 with the annual Leadership Breakfast. The Leadership Breakfast wass an opportunity for public and elected officials to give and receive information about the state of health in central Georgia. October 21, 2009 marked the date of the first Annual Regional Health Summit. Over 100 community leaders had the opportunity to participate in plenary sessions and small-group moderated discussions that set the year’s agenda and brought to light the local and regional issues the Summit will continue to address throughout the year. Quarterly meetings held throughout CHW’s seven-county service region will solicit public participation in health and health services planning at the local level.
